About The Ride

A biking enthusiast, faced with two life changing events. When my father was first told he would need a full knee replacement before turning 50, he did what most people would do. Signed up for the Chicago Marathon. When asked why, he answered simply, "If I can run a marathon, I don't need a new knee. If I can't run the marathon, well then I will think about it."

Fast forward 4 years, 1 completed marathon, 2 Helicopter skiing trips, 4 lacrosse tournaments and numerous other strenuous physical activities. It was time to face the music. In June of 2018 Freeman received a successful knee replacement, determined to not let it change his lifestyle.

This blog will not only document his journey from Carlsbad, California to St. Augustine, Florida, but give insight into the work and recovery required to make this possible from the eyes of one of his biggest supporters... ME

For those of you who don't know me or my dad, we have a special connection when it comes to all things athletic, competitive, or adventurous. It only seems right for me to document this amazing journey as one of my biggest role models achieves a lifelong dream. Biking across the USA.
