Daily Diary 6: Week 1 complete!

6 days in the saddle and I am looking forward to a rest day! Today’s ride from Wickenberg to Phoenix was good, 66 miles with light rain all morning which was a bit annoying but it was a long gradual downhill with a light breeze at my back, so I was cranking! Halfway through I turned into Sun City and started meandering through suburbs and along bike paths to my friends Dave and Susan’s house in Scottsdale. They had a barbecue feast waiting, great wine, and a much needed washing machine for my clothes (thanks guys!!!). Sunday is my first rest day and looking back I covered over 400 miles and averaged about 68 miles a day. Once I am through the mountains and desert, I had scheduled longer days but I may pair that back a bit. 70 a day feels good right now so we will see!

I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported me and given to the Anti-Cruelty Society so far. Your words of encouragement are really fantastic and definitely help when I am dragging my sorry butt up hills and through tough sections.  Next update will be Monday: Day 8 and start of week 2

Freeman this is so great! I had to laugh about the wrong turn..I've done that with my friends too many times to count. (Me being the leader) I apologize, we laugh, and keep peddling. Stay safe and keep the blogs coming. Maybe add a local or two in your videos. Could be funny!
